FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY HIRE EXTRA SUPPORT IF ESSENTIAL SERVICES ARE COVERED UNDER UNIVERSAL CARE?

Essential care is provided under universal health care in Canada. In Alberta, this would include services such as prenatal care, clinical services as related to labor and delivery, post-partum care, and immunization clinic visits in the community. However, your questions may be related to general day to day care within your home, of which your health care providers likely would not have the opportunity to do in-depth teaching with you. Having a new baby can be overwhelming and regardless of the multitude of information available, showing you with your baby is a different experience.

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS?

As Registered Nurses, we have a unique combination of experience with infants and our practice is focused on evidence-based information across a wide-spectrum. Many of our techniques have been developed over many years of experience in working with thousands of babies. We look at the entire picture with a holistic perspective and keeping in mind the family's circumstances and needs. When necessary, referrals to other practitioners may be suggested after a though assessment has been conducted.

ARE THERE COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS IN PLACE?

Baby Experts will continue to follow up-to-date government protocols for Covid-19. For your safety and our own, we will be donning PPE as necessary under guidelines. Prior to your in-home visit, you will be asked to complete a Covid disclosure form. We ask that anyone booked for an appointment that has been contacted as a suspected or known case of Covid-19 to connect with us as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements.

ARE YOUR SERVICES COVERED UNDER INSURANCE?

You may be eligible to claim costs through your HEALTHCARE  INSURANCE  BENEFITS provider.  Each provider and plan vary in coverage, so it is the client's responsibility to confirm eligibility and there is no guarantee of reimbursement. You  may require a prescription from your doctor prior to services in order to be eligible to claim.

All of Baby Experts Inc. health practitioners are actively licensed through CARNA (licensing board for Registered Nurses practicing in Alberta).  If your coverage allows for in-home visits from a Registered Nurse, you may submit your receipt(s) for reimbursement. All in-home visits cannot be billed directly through any provider and must be done by the client--online or through your insurance provider's app.
